In October 2016, Council sought community feedback on changes to redevelopment plans for The Glen Shopping Centre.
In mid-2015, Council had approved a permit for a $500 million redevelopment of the site. The permit-holder sought permission to amend its permit to:
- Increase the overall number of apartments from 427 apartments to 539 apartments
- Increase the height of the smallest tower from 9 storeys to 12 storeys
- Reduce a requirement that 20% of dwellings be three-bedroom to make it that 5% of dwellings be three-bedroom
At its 29 November 2016 meeting, Council approved an amended permit, agreeing to the request to increase the number of apartments and to increase the height of the smallest tower. Council didn't agree to reduce the percentage of three-bedroom apartments to 5% - instead Council reduced this requirement to 10%.
