Solar energy
Council has installed almost 600kW of solar capacity on key Council buildings as part of its Zero Net Carbon Action Plan.
The initiative will harness solar energy as a clean and renewable source of electricity, reducing our carbon footprint and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.
The new capacity includes:
- 220kW at the Monash Aquatic & Recreation Centre
- 200kW at Clayton Community Centre
- 90kW at the Monash Operations Centre
- 80kW at the Monash Civic Centre.
Over its operational lifetime, the 600kW solar installation is projected to reduce up to 762 metric tons of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) emissions per annum.
