Fraser Street Reserve Tiny Forest - Community Planting Day

Drone shot of planting at Fraser Street Reserve

The Fraser Street Reserve Tiny Forest is made possible thanks to a collaboration between Monash Council and Earthwatch, in partnership with Bupa.

The site was selected because of its low biodiversity with large unused grassed areas that supported little wildlife.

The creation of this Tiny Forest will provide a new habitat for wildlife, help cool the area and provide a renewed community space for interaction with nature.

Design and features

Tiny Forests are constructed based upon the traditional Miyawaki method

This method involves engaging with the community to densely plant a vast range of Indigenous plants using a nutrient rich soil base.

The design of Fraser Street Reserve Tiny Forest will ensure the community can enjoy an engaging space to gather, sit with nature and learn about biodiversity or take part in citizen science activities.
