Damper Creek Conservation Reserve

Damper Creek Reserve - Park & Playground

About the reserve

The Damper Creek Conservation Reserve is an 11ha bushland reserve in Mount Waverley. The 1.5km narrow bushland strip follows the Damper Creek watercourse and has interpretative signage to guide you through the beautiful parkland.

The reserve has been stabilised and reconstructed by Council and the Friends of Damper Creek Reserve, with the important urban bushland now rich in indigenous flora and fauna.

As of 1 July 2023, dogs must be on-leash in the reserve except in 2 areas:

(1) The area west of the walking track that runs north to south from Warren Court to level with a line extending east from Quaintance Street and the boundary of the reserve. Dogs must be on-leash on the walking track itself.
(2) The area to the north being a line extending west from the northern-most point of Norman Court to Park Road, to the west being Park Road, to the east being Norman Court and to the south being the intersection of Norman Court and Park Road.
See map below

Dogs must be under effective control in off-leash areas.

More information at Dog Off-Leash Areas.

Take your camera and be on the lookout for the southern bell frog, grey-headed flying fox, peregrine falcon, gang-gang cockatoo, sugar glider, and the striped marsh frog.

The reserve also has a playground, compete with swings, slides, balance beams and a blue-tongue lizard climbing structure.

For people wanting a scenic walk, the Damper Creek path is an unsealed walking path that runs through the reserve.

A car park is available at Stephensons Road entrance and a small car park on Park Road.

Park-Friendly Behaviour

While you are visiting the park, we ask you to follow a few basic rules:

  • Please carry a plastic bag to collect dog droppings to be disposed of in the bins at park entrances or taken home with you.
  • Dogs must be on-leash when walking through the reserve and within 20m of the playground. The exception is within the 2 designated off-leash areas.
  • Cats must not be brought into Damper Creek Conservation Reserve.
  • Keep to designated tracks to prevent damage to plants, erosion and encouragement of weed growth.
  • Please do not feed ducks or other birdlife. Bread and other scraps attract rats and can cause nutrient build-up and algae growth.
  • Please take your litter home with you.
  • Please be mindful of other park users, volunteers and Council officers who may be working in or using the reserve by not allowing your dog to jump up onto them.
