Vince Jones: Live at The Count's

Vince Jones - a remarkable interpreter and composer of songs in a contemporary jazz style, and one of the most recognisable voices in Australian music.

With a career spanning 40 years and over 20 albums, Vince’s signature restrained and stylish melodic interpretations on voice and trumpet saw him earn international acclaim. His approach to songwriting and interpretation to jazz is honest, raw, poetic and always exciting.

For this special performance at The Count’s, Vince Jones appears with students from the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and Performance. This performance will feature Vinces’ original compositions and is part of his week-long residency at the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and Performance where he’s giving workshops, rehearsing, and performing with the students. These activities enable students the privilege and rare opportunity to work with one of Australia’s leading jazz vocalists and rehearse and perform the compositions alongside the composer.

Vince’s 2023 residency builds on a 2013 residency at Monash University, where he recorded the acclaimed ‘Vince Jones: Monash Sessions’ recordings. This unique student experience is a key pedagogical approach within the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music, with established artists mentoring the emerging generation of jazz musicians.
