The Sugarfoot Ramblers are a group of young musicians from Melbourne who share a love of traditional jazz. After spending time in New Orleans, Travis Woods and Daniel Berry decided to form the Sugarfoot Ramblers to explore the classic trad jazz repertoire in the spirit of Australian trad acts such as The Red Onions and The Hoodangers.
The group has performed around town regularly over the years including appearances at the Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Newcastle Jazz Festival, Stonnington Jazz Festival, Bellingen Jazz Festival, Bennetts Lane Jazz Club, The Paris Cat, Fitzroy Pinnacle and Uptown Jazz Cafe.
We all love the music of Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet, Duke Ellington and Jelly Roll Morton, as well as local legends and personal heroes, The Red Onions and The Hoodangers. So that’s the music we enjoy playing in this band – Band Leader, Travis Woods

Special guest, Jess Mahler is a versatile contemporary jazz saxophonist, composer and conductor based out of Melbourne, Victoria. Originally from the North Coast of NSW, Jess moved to Melbourne in 2017 to complete her studies of a Bachelor of Music Performance at Monash University and her Honours Degree in Music Performance at the Victorian College of The Arts.
Jess is vastly experienced both in ensemble work and band leading playing venues and festivals all over Australia like The Palais Theatre, Robert Blackwood Hall, The Melbourne Recital Centre, Cooly Rocks On, Macedon Ranges Music Festival, The Palms Crown Casino Melbourne, The Byron Bay Rails, and supporting many Australian legends like the Women of Soul Collective, Renee Geyer, Martha Baartz, John St. Peters and John Hoffman.
