nathan-slater

Nathan Slater is one of the most exciting and original music voices in the country.

Slater’s mastery of the guitar couples his approach to the traditions of Spanish, Argentinian and Brazilian music and jazz influences. Beyond the command of his instrument, Slater’s voice has an honest and beautiful timbre and has become an unexpected highlight of his live performances.

Drawing from his diverse musical upbringing from the traditions of Jazz, Flamenco, Tango, and the music of Brazil. His playing and compositional approach reflects these influences, creating music that is rich, elegant and deeply moving.

Slater has been a sideman and led his own ensemble since moving to Melbourne from Canberra in 2004. He has performed, recorded, toured both nationally and internationally with artists such as Gian Slater Trio, Arte Kanela, La Rumba, One Night in Buenos Aires, Ross James Irwin, and Australian Tango Champion dancers Fabio Robles and Ana Andre.

Slater will be performing with Anthony Schultz (accordion), Ryan Menezes (percussion) and Jaime Carrasco (bass).
