Hetty Kate Quintet: Dim All The Lights

Celebrating the ten year anniversary of Hetty Kate's ABC Jazz album Dim All The Lights, the music of Peggy Lee, June Christy and Julie London.

 

Now based in Paris, France - this is Hetty Kate's last concert of her April Australian Tour.

A decade after the recording of vocalist Hetty Kate’s ABC Jazz album Dim All The Lights, she is delighted to revisit these iconic songs and celebrate a significant milestone in her career.

Invited to record by jazz radio stalwart Mal Stanley back in 2013, Hetty took the opportunity and selected beautiful compositions made famous by vocalists June Christy, Julie London and Peggy Lee. These significant women were huge stars of the 1940s and 50s, and their instantly recognisable voices were a constant soundtrack of the era.

For her last concert of her Autumn tour, Hetty will be joined by pianist Sam Keevers, guitarist James Sherlock, bassist Tamara Murphy and drummer Alex Spicer. Enjoy musical treasures such as Cry Me A River, Why Don’t You Do Right and the Bacharach classic Wives and Lovers elegantly reimagined by five of the best.

Vocalist Hetty Kate, was born in England, raised in Australia, and has been based in Paris since 2017. Mentored on the Melbourne scene and now with an impressive career spanning over a decade, Hetty can be found on stages large and small from New Zealand to New York. She toured for many years with acclaimed Australian musician James Morrison, and has released ten albums to date, and appeared as a guest on many more.

Hetty has performed at premier jazz festivals internationally including the New York Winter Jazz Festival (USA), Sapporo International Jazz Festival (Japan), Ascona Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Prague Proms (Czech Republic) and the Cavell Leitch International Jazz Festival (NZ) as well as many others across Europe, Asia and Australia. Career highlights include performing with eight symphonic orchestras, treading the boards as Ava Gardner in Eric McCusker’s original Australian stage production Ava at the End of the World and appearing on both Australian and French TV.

Expect a warm, entertaining and masterful evening at The Count’s for Hetty’s final concert before she returns to Europe.
