EXHIBITION LAUNCH AND ARTIST TALK: Down the Drain with Emma Winkler!

You are invited to help launch our latest exhibition, Down the Drain, at Civic Gallery from 6pm - 8pm.

This exciting multi-media exhibition launch will also include a special Artist Talk by Emma Winkler starting at 6.30pm. 

Down the Drain presents a personal exploration of the subject of anxiety and the questions and responses it evokes. 

Within complex paintings and absurd animations, feelings of avoidance, obsession and catharsis are depicted through fractured layers and distressed cartoons. In hand-painted animations, figures are also shown being ridiculously deconstructed, trapped in a loop of their own making. 

Rather than shying away from negative emotions and increasing one's dread, Down the Drain explores the way accepting fear and embracing failure can be an antidote to anxiety.

The Civic Gallery exhibition program is part of Councils commitment to support and showcase local and Indigenous artists.
