Lest we forget - ANZAC Day 2024

Monash residents are encouraged to attend local services to commemorate this year’s ANZAC Day.

People are encouraged to pay their respects for all Australians who served and died in war and operational service. These ceremonies are organised by local Returned Services League (RSL) branches.

Glen Waverley

Sunday 21 April at 10am

Glen Waverley Cenotaph, Kingsway (behind Glen Waverley Library)

Preceded by a short march at 10am from the Waverley RSL Sub-Branch car park (off Glendale Street).

Veterans, current and former service personnel and community leaders march to the Cenotaph for a community service.

All members of the community are invited to attend. Following the service all attendees are invited to return to the RSL for refreshments.

Social distancing and venue capacity rules will still be applicable.

Thursday 25 April at 6am

The Cenotaph, Springvale Road (adjacent to Central Reserve), Glen Waverley

An ANZAC Day Dawn Service will be conducted at the original Glen Waverley Cenotaph, Springvale Road, Glen Waverley (adjacent to Central Reserve) commencing at 6am.

Clayton

Thursday 25 April at 6am

Dawn Service at the Cenotaph  in the RSL Memorial & Remembrance Space on the Railway Easement at the corner of Carinish Road and Kanooka Grove Clayton

A dawn service will take place at the Clayton Cenotaph at 6am. Flags will be ‘lowered’, and words said.

Oakleigh

Thursday 25 April at 6am

The Cenotaph, Cnr Drummond St and Atherton Roads, Oakleigh

The Oakleigh Carnegie RSL Sub-Branch will hold a Dawn Service at the Oakleigh Cenotaph.  All members of the community are invited to attend.

Following the service the community is invited to attend the club rooms for breakfast (approx. 7.30am) – gold coin donation is requested.

During the morning, you’ll be able to view the ANZAC City March & Service.

From 12 noon the OCRSL Bistro will be open for lunch.

From 3pm, you’ll be able to view the AFL Anzac Day match between Essendon and Collingwood.
