Monica Weinburg, Library Officer
What does being a Monash Ally Champion mean to you?
Being a Monash Ally Champion means actively supporting and advocating for the rights, inclusion, and wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ colleagues and patrons, fostering a safe and respectful environment, and education oneself and others about LGBTIQA+ issues and experiences. It means offering a safe space, free of judgement and fuelled by trust and kindness.
How do you think you can make an impact in your area of work?
The Monash Public Library Service is constantly working towards a greater level of diversity and inclusion in both the collections offered, and the events and services we provide. All our Library spaces are safe and welcoming, showcasing rainbow flags upon entry. I personally love wearing a rainbow and trans ribbon on my lanyard, along with our new "LOVE IS LOVE" rainbow numbat badge to show both fellow team members and the community that I am an ally.
