Jules Ewert, Youth Worker
What does being a Monash Ally Champion mean to you?
To me, being a Monash Ally Champion means taking care of, and supporting others around me, through advocacy and empowering people to find and use their voice. It also means learning about issues or challenges that are happening within our communities. Being an ally is about being visible and supporting our communities.
How do you think you can make an impact in your area of work?
My role as a youth worker has given me a unique perspective on the diversity of our community and helps me understand the importance of inclusivity. Diversity and inclusion are two interconnected concepts and I work to listen to the voices of the LGBTIQA+ community and empower them to speak for themselves.
I’m proud of the work that I do and I’m excited to continue expanding my experience and learn more.
