Monash Ally
We are all Monash Allies!
A Monash Ally supports the rights of equality, respect, inclusion and to being free from violence.
They are prepared to ‘call out’ behaviours that do not align with these values and demonstrates a commitment to inclusion in the best way they see fit.
A Monash Ally feels empowered to align and participate in various Council initiatives and feels supported and safe as part of Council’s collective voice.
A Monash Ally can show their support in several ways:
- Wear a Monash Ally badge/pin
- Use Monash Ally virtual background
- Use gender pronouns
- Use inclusive language
- Attend/support events for significant days
- Educate yourself and think about your privilege
- Be an active bystander
Monash Ally Champions
Anyone can become a Monash Ally Champion!
Staff will complete an induction and some additional capacity-building opportunities and will be provided with ongoing training opportunities using online modules and resources.
They will also be provided with the latest resources and information from across the organisation to share with their teams and may be listed on Monnet as a Monash Ally Champion.
A Monash Ally Champion will always look to raise awareness as well as advocate, educate, and encourage others to be active participants in Council’s significant staff days or initiatives.
They are not expected to be subject matter experts or have all the answers but will feel comfortable referring staff to the right contact for more information or support.
