National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a way of delivering services and support to people with a permanent disability in Australia.

Who is eligible for the NDIS?

To be eligible for the NDIS, you must have a permanent disability that:

  • reduces your ability to undertake tasks without the support of someone else
  • affects your ability to be involved in your community and/or to get or maintain employment
  • means you are likely to need support for the rest of your life

You must also be under 65 years old (or under 50 years old for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) when you enter the scheme. You must also be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa.
