Rail Safety and Travel Training

Metro train

This session will cover a range of safety topics, including:

  • Using Myki - purchasing, touching on/off, and topping up - as well as finding help and assistance.
  • How to identify safe people in uniform
  • Accessibility options and concessions
  • The latest technology for timetabling and journey planning.

These sessions are tailored to all ages and groups and have been especially beneficial for older people, people with disabilities, and CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) communities.

For those who need a bit more support and confidence, Metro offers Free Travel Training. This program includes a return journey from your local station to Flinders Street with a member of our team and Victoria Police. Once at Flinders Street, you'll visit ‘Info Central’ and Travellers Aid for additional information. Afterward, enjoy a coffee (at your own cost) and chat at Federation Square before returning to your chosen station. This experience is particularly valuable for anyone who feels uncertain about using the network, with a special focus on Senior Victorians, CALD communities, and people with disabilities.

Free event.
