Waverley Camera Club

The Waverley Camera Club is based in the Melbourne suburb of Mount Waverley, Victoria. It is affiliated with the Victorian Association of Photographic Societies (VAPS). We offer a range of photography-based activities every month.

People join camera clubs for many reasons. Perhaps you are simply considering connecting with a fun, friendly group while enjoying your photography, and picking up on a few tips along the way. Or perhaps you are looking to take better holiday and family snaps, or you might aspire to create a photographic image which is the envy of all, or one that expresses how you feel? You may have a bunch of unanswered questions - What makes one photograph ‘pop’ off the page, and another seem flat? Why do some images invoke emotion when others might do nothing for you? You might always take photos on the ‘Auto’ setting and wonder why your camera has all those other buttons and settings? Or you might wonder whether we still print photographs, or have questions about the need to learn Photoshop or other software? Yep, we get it - lots of questions. We have answers.

Whatever your reasons for considering joining us, we offer a fun time with friendly people, enjoying photography, and plenty of opportunities to grow your photographic skills.

We run regular beginners courses and mentoring sessions. You’ll learn from the critiques of other member’s images, as well as your own. And you will have the opportunity to join in workshops conducted by other members as well as renowned professional and enthusiast photographers who share the secrets of their success. We also regularly get out-and-about on outings and weekends away.

We cater for interests across most genres of photography including landscape, travel, street, creative, nature, portrait, monochrome and creating portfolios. Our club has one of the most active Creative Photography groups in Victoria, where we explore all aspects of creative photography and encourage you grow your skills using both camera craft and computer-based processing software, such as Photoshop. We also have a vibrant group focused on street photography - something we can all do, every day. If you feel you would be more driven by entering exhibitions and competitions, then we have a group focused on helping you get started and succeed.
