Monash Children's Centre Clayton Cooperative

Monash Children’s Centre (Clayton) Co-operative Ltd has operated continuously since 1967, offering care and education to children aged 3 months to 5 years. The centre operates in the interests of families, who are also members of the cooperative, to nurture and support the children and families in our care. The centre runs independently, but in partnership with Monash University, based on the Clayton campus.

Monash Children's Centre has consistently been rated Exceeding in all 7 areas of the National Quality Standards. Monash Children's Centre compromises of 7 rooms and 5 playgrounds. Each room is staffed with highly educated teachers ensuring that ratios under the regulations are met, in most instances there is more teachers than required. The centre also boasts a functional foyer play space, an in-house library and a vegetable garden.

Monash Children's Centre embeds 3 year old and 4 year old Kindergarten into our long day care setting, which allows families to access their Child Care Subsidy benefits to reduce their daily fees, without affecting their working commitments. Our Kindergarten programs run all year, without the need for families to find alternate arrangements during school holidays and benefit from the longer opening hours. The programs are developed, run and supervised by qualified Early Childhood Teachers.

Throughout the centre’s history, Monash Children’s Centre has had a long standing and supportive relationship with Monash University. Monash considers that the provision of child care for children of its staff and students is a vital means of supporting a work/life and study balance and of promoting equity of access to education, thus the centre is additionally supported by a service license agreement between Monash University and Monash Children’s Centre.

The centre operates for 49 weeks of the year, with a 3 week shutdown at the end of the year. We are open 3 public holidays in line with the University.
