Australian Tamil Literary and Arts Society
The Australian Tamil Literary and Arts Society, established in Melbourne, Victoria, in 2001, is a registered organization dedicated to uniting Tamil writers, artists, dancers, stage artists, and actors residing in Australia.
With the motto "To share what you know and learn the unknown," the society has been instrumental in fostering a vibrant community of Tamil creatives.
Through its annual Writer's Festivals, held both in-person and online, the society invites distinguished writers and artists to share their experiences and perspectives. These festivals have been a cornerstone of the society's activities, taking place in all Australian states. In addition, the society annually recognizes outstanding Sri Lankan writers by awarding cash prizes for their published works in categories such as short story collections, novels, essays, and poetry.
Since 2024, the society has also been publishing a literary magazine, Boomerang, which showcases the talent and diversity of Tamil writers.
The society's operations are supported by member subscriptions, donations from well-wishers, and Council grants. Since its inception, the Australian Tamil Literary and Arts Society has been committed to serving the Tamil-speaking community in Australia.
The society's achievements in promoting Tamil literature and arts have been significant, and it continues to play a vital role in enriching the cultural landscape of the country.
