Kindergarten is an early childhood education program delivered by qualified early childhood teachers in sessional kindergartens, childcare centres and some independent schools.
Kindergarten programs are designed to engage and encourage a love of learning. They provide children with a broad range of play-based experiences that are responsive to their interests, ideas, strengths and abilities.
For more information, please see:
Families can enrol and view their application details from home at any time. You can also update your details and change your kindergarten preference at any time.
Kindergartens operating from Council buildings are required to give preference to children of Monash residents and ratepayers when allocating or offering kindergarten places.
Children who are deferred must be withdrawn from the program before the Government Data Collection counts the child as attending for the year, which is at the end of the first term
The Preschool Field Officer service provides support, resourcing and advice to kindergarten educators in State Government-funded kindergarten programs to support the inclusion, access and meaningful participation of all children.
Does your family speak a language other than English at home? This free program helps multicultural families in Monash enrol in and attend kindergarten.

Kindergartens and childcare centres both provide children with a broad range of play-based experiences that are responsive to children’s interests, ideas, strengths, and abilities. Find a list of Monash kindergartens here.
