Steve has been involved with Whites Lane Mulgrave Tennis Club for 15 years. For almost all of that time he has been junior convenor, organising junior teams on Saturday and Sunday mornings. For the last 4 years he has also been President of the Club, and has led the Club through some significant changes, including updating of its constitution and moving membership and marketing into the digital age. He is at every working bee and fundraising BBQ, and plays in a team on Saturday afternoons.

Steve’s role as Junior Conveyor is a hands on and demanding one, encompassing working with the Club coach to identify and introduce new players to competition tennis; organising teams, team entries and rosters; liaising with the parents to manage team activities and much more. The club consistently has approximately 50-60 junior players each season.

Although Steve’s three children no longer play at the club, he has continued in this role, despite demands on his time from his job and life. His approach to management of the junior players, involvement and concern for their development, makes the Club a welcoming and encouraging place for juniors to develop and play tennis.
