On Tuesday 3 September 2024, 55 people from local businesses connected at the Monash Women’s Business Network lunch, hearing valuable insights from keynote speaker Mariyam Sayers – sustainability educator and founder of kandu sustainability.

Attendees were able to network with their peers, gain insights into improving sustainability for their business, and speak personally with Mariyam and ask her questions.  Our Sustainable Monash team were also on hand to highlight the resources available to Monash businesses to assist with their sustainability needs.

Monash Women’s Business Network is dedicated to connecting businesses across Monash and platforming women from diverse professions and business backgrounds.

We’re already looking forward to our next networking event in March 2025 as we celebrate International Women’s Day with keynote speaker Carolyn Creswell – founder and CEO of Carman’s Fine Foods.

About the presenter

Mariyam Sayers is the founder of kandu sustainability, a platform that provides accessible education and tools for small and medium enterprises. Prior to establishing kandu, she worked with some of the world’s largest emitters in aviation, mining and transport to meet their environmental obligations and reporting.

With more than 10 years' expertise in environmental compliance and ISO standards, Mariyam is dedicated to democratising sustainability knowledge. She also teaches as Monash University, focusing on innovation for impact and carbon strategies.
