Our purpose: We provide financial advice, guidance and tools to our organisation, to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of Council.
The Finance Department is responsible for:
- Ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the Council.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant Legislations, Regulations and Standards.
- Providing meaningful analysis of financial results to enable informed decisions on the allocation of resources.
- Ensuring Council’s budget is compiled in accordance with statutory guidelines and the parameters of the Financial Plan.
- Providing accurate and timely financial transaction processing, financial information, advice, analysis and systems to achieve Council objectives.
- Maximising returns on Council’s financial investments within the parameters set by Council.
- Ensuring that financial relationships with ratepayers, customers and suppliers are maintained professionally and accurately.
- Accurate maintenance of databases relevant to the Property, Revenue and Valuation services.
- The timely and accurate levying of Council’s Rates and Charges Revenue and collection of this revenue.
- Management of the payroll function, including taxation and statutory obligations and reporting.
