Media and Communications
Our purpose: We are committed to providing relevant, accurate, up-to-date and accessible information about Council projects, events, programs, policies and services, and encourage our community to share their views.
The Communications Department is responsible for all internal and external communications. We aim to provide relevant, accurate, up-to-date and accessible information about Council projects, events, programs, policies and services via a range of channels.
We encourage our community to share their views to help guide our work through meaningful engagement activities. We look to provide an ‘online first’ focus through a customer orientated website and incorporate graphic design across all our channels to easily explain what Council provides to our community.
How we do it:
- Media relations - Handling media enquiries for the organisation and writing media releases to promote Council projects and services;
- Digital/social media - Managing Council’s corporate website, Shape Monash consultation website, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram;
- Issues management - Advising the organisation and Council on how issues could be managed to minimise reputational risk;
- Publications - Production of the Monash Bulletin newsletter, Annual Report and e-newsletters;
- Consultation/Engagement - Facilitating high levels of community consultation and engagement across the organisation;
- Graphic design, video and photography - Design of corporate documents including numerous plans and policy documents, letterhead, business cards, posters and flyers, creation of video content and photos; and
- Organising the annual Sir John Monash Awards for outstanding community service and leadership.
