Horticultural Services
Our purpose: We create, enhance and keep our city’s natural landscape, urban forests, gardens, sports fields and parks looking their best. We enable the community to connect, feel safe and play, whilst prioritising the natural environment and liveability for our future community and visitors.
The Horticultural Services Department provides a range of services for the management and enhancement of horticulture and associated assets on Council managed public land.
The department is made up of 4 service areas:
- Sports Ground and Golf Course Maintenance Services - Manages and maintains our active open space reserves including council’s sportsgrounds and golf courses.
- Parks and Gardens Maintenance Services - Manages and enhances presentation of our high profile gardens and passive open spaces and places
- Heritage and Conservation Services - Manages, maintains and enhances our natural and landscape assets including our play spaces and conservation reserves.
- Arboricultural Services - Manages and increases our urban forest through delivery of tree management and maintenance programs, tree planting and establishment programs.
We deliver our services in a hybrid delivery model of internal staff and contract partners – and manage growth in our asset base through external contract support.
We manage our works through our asset management system to ensure that the agreed service levels are met.
We benchmark our service delivery against best practice and seek regular feedback from our internal and external stakeholders.
