Support for Monash youth has continued during the COVID-19 pandemic, with Monash Youth Ambassadors (YABS) working together to amplify the voices of local young people.

YABS launched the #MYAction2020 campaign this year, providing education, advocacy and community action in response to the needs of our young people, as identified in the 2019 Youth Survey Report.

Last year Monash Youth Services (MYS) and YABS consulted with more than 2500 young people aged 10-25 to find out what matters to them. The results showed that local young people are most concerned about the environment, mental health, feeling stress, education and safety.

Environmental group Keep Victoria Beautiful spotted the campaign online and invited the ambassadors to submit an entry into its annual Sustainable Cities awards.

The YABS were then invited to present the campaign to a panel of judges, with ambassadors Ewa Pluciennik and Tanna Reynolds speaking to the vision and importance of the campaign for Monash youth.

The campaign was picked as a finalist for the Social Well-being Award – a category celebrating projects that contribute to an accessible community with resilient, healthy and happy people.

The Keep Victoria Beautiful award winners will be announced in November 2020.

YABS are working collaboratively with Sustainable Monash, Active Monash and Fit to Drive to complete the projects.

YABS projects are funded by Engage and Youth Week Victoria.
