Tender for Kerbside Collection Services

One of the most important services Council provides is our kerbside collection of garbage, recycling and food and garden waste bins.

We’ve recently completed a tender for the bin collection service with three tender submissions received. Of these three, Council has engaged Rico Enterprises Pty Ltd (trading as Solo Resource Recovery) to provide this service under a new seven-year contract from April 2020.

The agreement includes:

• use of vehicles which meet EURO6 standards to reduce vehicle emissions
• an education fund to support community education to improve service outcomes
• delivery of a kitchen caddy to all Monash properties with an existing garden bin prior to the introduction of a food waste in green bin service in July 2020
• bin collections and transportation to recycling and disposal facilities

The contract will also include social and sustainability outcomes, including the employment of one full-time person from a socially or economically disadvantaged background.
