State Government funding for Pinewood Early Years Hub

Monash Council welcomes $2million in funding towards a state-of-the art early years hub on the current site of the Pinewood kindergarten and the Maternal and Child Health Centre in Mount Waverley.
The funding has been awarded for the design and construction of the Pinewood Early Years Hub project as part of the State Government’s ‘Building Blocks - Capacity Building’ - 2021-22 Integrated Children’s Centre Grant scheme.
The Pinewood Early Years Hub will offer beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces, including two kindergarten rooms, a three-room Maternal and Child Health service and community playgroup areas in a state-of-the-art facility. The facility is currently in the design stage and it is anticipated that it will be ready to open in mid-2023.
Monash Mayor Brian Little said the Pinewood Early Year Hub will offer local families a central place to access kindergarten, Maternal and Child Health support and playgroups in one accessible and central location.
“The project demonstrates Council’s strong commitment to improving the accessibility and quality of early childhood services in Monash,” Cr Little said.
“It follows on from our first integrated project, the Wellington Hub, which is currently under construction. It is the future of child and family services and we’re delighted that this project has received the $2 million funding.”
The grant is part of the State Government’s $5 billion investment over the next decade to provide universal access to three-year-old kindergarten.
Council will work with the Pinewood kindergarten community to ensure a smooth transition and provide information and updates to local residents and businesses, to inform them of the project and the timeline of construction.
