Consul-General of Chile visits Spanish Book Club at Clayton Library
Published on 13 December 2019
Clayton Library welcomed the Consul-General of Chile, who presented a donation of novels and poetry on behalf of a monthly Spanish book club.
The Gabriela Mistral Spanish book club has met at Clayton Library since 2017 and brings together members representing a range of Hispanic Latin American countries with the purpose of reading and raising awareness about the literature of this region.
As part of its December meeting, the book club organised for the book donation to be presented from Felipe Cousino, Consul-General of Chile (pictured left), on behalf of the Chilean Government and accepted by Mount Waverley Ward Councillor Brian Little (pictured right).
The club is named after Chilean poet Gabriela Mistral who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1945.
The book club meets monthly and will re-commence meetings for 2020 on Thursday 13 February, 10am to 12 noon at the Clayton Library.
