Monash Council is participating in National Road Safety Week (15-22 May), to shine a light on the deadly issue of traffic injury and advocate for the safe use of local roads.

National Road Safety Week is an annual initiative by the Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Group.

Every year more than 1200 people are killed and another 44,000 are seriously injured on Australian roads. Traffic injury is the biggest killer of Australian children under 15 and the second-biggest killer of all Australians aged between 15-24.

The campaign's key message of Drive So Others Survive (Drive SOS!) invites road users to:

  • Share the road responsibly
  • Protect vulnerable road users (particularly those who work on roads to assist and protect us)
  • Honour those who have been killed or injured on the road network.

Take the pledge now to drive so others survive.
