Monash people recognised in Australia Day Honours 2017

Congratulations to the seven Monash people who have been recognised in the Australia Day Honours for 2017.
The local recipients are:
Member (AM) in the General Division:
- Adjunct Professor the Honourable Nahum Mushin (of Clayton). For significant service to the judiciary, particularly to family law, to legal education, and to the welfare of children
- Professor Evan Rutherford Simpson (of Clayton). For significant service to medical science, particularly in the field of breast cancer, as an academic and researcher.
Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division:
- Rosemary Florence Brown (of Mount Waverley). For service to international relations through voluntary education roles
- Alexander John Hehr (of Ashwood). For service to the broadcast media, particularly through community radio
- Keith Lindsay Irvine (of Mount Waverley). For service to community health through a range of volunteer roles and to social welfare organisations.
Public Service Medal:
- Gemma Cecilia Varley (of Glen Waverley). For outstanding public service through the drafting of legislation in Victoria
- Michael Lawrence Wells (of Mount Waverley). For outstanding public service thorugh the protection of rights for disadvantaged and vulnerable people in Victoria.
