Meet Monash's new Council

The result of the recent local government election for Monash was confirmed by the Victorian Electoral Commission on Monday 11 November with councillors declared elected for Monash’s 11 wards.

Monash Council Chief Executive Officer, Dr Andi Diamond, congratulated new and returning candidates on their election.

“The start of a council term is exciting for the community, and this new Council brings a mix of new and experienced councillors.

“Our organisation looks forward to working with the new Council and our community for the next four years, the first council term under Monash’s new single councillor ward structure,” said Dr Diamond.

The new councillors are (in alphabetical order by ward):

  • Banksia Ward – Cr Cameron Little (new councillor)
  • Blackburn Ward – Cr Rebecca Paterson (returning councillor)
  • Gallaghers Ward – Cr Geoff Lake (returning councillor)
  • Gardiners Creek Ward – Cr Anjalee de Silva (returning councillor)
  • Jells Ward – Cr Elisha Lee (new councillor)
  • Mayfield Ward – Cr Brian Little (returning councillor)
  • Scotchmans Creek Ward – Cr Nicky Luo (returning councillor)
  • University Ward – Cr Josh Fergeus (returning councillor)
  • Warrigal Ward – Cr Stuart James (returning councillor)
  • Waverley Park Ward – Cr Shane McCluskey (returning councillor)
  • Wellington Ward – Cr Paul Klisaris (returning councillor)

A meeting for councillors to be sworn in and appoint a Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the first year of the new council term will be on Tuesday 12 November at 7pm in the Glen Waverley Civic Centre. This will be livestreamed on Council’s website and is also open to the public.
