Help shape the Monash Council budget for 2023/24
Published on 07 November 2022
What would you like to see Monash Council focus on in next year’s budget?
That’s what we’re asking our community as part of engagement on Council’s budget for 2023/24.
You are invited to help inform our Council Budget for 2023/24 through an online budgeting tool, pop-up sessions and the opportunity to present an idea for funding to Councillors on 6 December.
Monash Mayor, Cr Stuart James, is excited to hear from the community on what they want to see funded.
“Each year we prepare an annual budget which outlines how we will deliver services and programs to the community.
“This covers things like managing our waste, upgrading community infrastructure, maintaining our facilities and parks, maternal and child health programs, town planning, operating our libraries, running our recreation centres, sustainability programs, and providing community events and festivals.
“This year we’re trying something new by inviting people to take the imaginary purse strings through an online budgeting tool that allows people to tell Council where their rates should be directed.
“I’m also excited about inviting people to present specific projects, ideas, or initiatives for funding at Additional Meeting of Council on Tuesday 6 December. This is your chance to speak directly to Councillors about an idea you think can help the Monash community.
“I encourage everyone to get involved. Your input will help guide Councillors on what our community wants to see in their Council’s budget,” said Cr James.
