We have an excess of bush mulch that we are providing for FREE to community members due to the cleanup of tree damage from the storm that hit Monash in February 2024.

Where: Monash Operations Centre car park, 390 Ferntree Gully Road, Notting Hill (next to Monash Recycling & Waste Centre).
When: Any time, Monday-Sunday

Bush mulch is great for your garden, so we’re inviting people to take some for your garden at home. We’ll also be putting it to good use by spreading it in our parks and gardens after we finish cleaning up the storm damage.

The bush mulch comes directly from woodchipping of damaged trees and vegetation from the storm event that hit Monash and surrounding suburbs in February.

Where and when

Bring a trailer to 390 Ferntree Gully Road, Notting Hill, follow the signs and directions to the rear of the facility and the giant pile of mulch, and load it up.

Mulch can be collected at any time. Community members do not have to visit during normal operating hours. Bush mulch is not restricted to Monash residents.

On Saturdays in July, we will also have a machine on-site to help with loading trailers.

Key points

  • Please ensure children always stay in cars.
  • This mulch has been collected from damaged trees following the recent storm and may contain weeds and other materials.
  • Please ensure your load is secured when leaving.
  • By entering this area, you understand that you will follow directions, drive slowly and take precautions to prevent injury to yourself and others.
  • For residential use only, not commercial.
