Emergency order lifted on townhouse near landslip site
Published on 30 December 2016
Monash Council has lifted a 24-hour Emergency Order on a townhouse in Mount Waverley where a garage wall fell yesterday. The townhouse is adjacent to a Mount Waverley construction site where a landslip occurred in July 2015.
The townhouse has not been occupied since the neighbouring construction site collapse occurred and no-one was injured in yesterday’s incident. Supporting props (poles) to secure the townhouse structure remain in place.
The townhouse was inspected yesterday by a structural engineer and declared safe.
Council issued a 24-hour Emergency Order yesterday to the owner of the townhouse to have the props inspected and verified as safe as a precaution. Council also informed the land owner’s insurer that an Emergency Order had been issued.
