Council will cease to be a provider of the State Government’s Home and Community Care – Program for Younger People (HAAC-PYP), as of 30 June 2018.

At its November 2017 meeting, Council resolved to cease the delivery of the program unless funding certainty could be negotiated with the State Government. 

Council sought a commitment from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to a minimum funding level of 70% of our current funding. In December 2017, Council received word that no specific funding levels were able to be committed to by the DHHS.

This formal response did not address the majority of points that Council had raised with the DHHS, including the request for a specific funding commitment, any clarity on what work had been done on the future viability of the program, or any specific planning the State Government may have done on the future support of people with a disability who are not eligible for the NDIS.

The State Government will now need to source an alternative provider to deliver these services. Council will work with any new provider to ensure a smooth transition of support.

This does not mean the service to Monash residents will stop. They will still receive the service, but it will be from another provider determined by the State Government.
