Council recognises World AIDS Day
Published on 29 November 2019
The Monash Civic Centre and Euneva Car Park will be lit red this Sunday 1 December, to commemorate World AIDS Day.
World AIDS Day raises awareness across the world and in the community about the issues surrounding HIV and AIDS and is a day for the community to show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died of AIDS-related conditions or other conditions associated with HIV.
HIV can affect anyone, and people living with HIV can often feel isolated because of their fear of being discriminated against and not being accepted.
Feeling accepted and having ongoing support available can make a big difference in helping people deal with the physical and emotional challenges HIV brings.
In October 2018, Council resolved to show our support for people living with HIV in our community by contributing to breaking down stigma.
