Council recognised at Keep Australia Beautiful Awards

Monash Council has been recognised with two awards at the 2018 Keep Victoria Beautiful Sustainable City Awards, held on Friday 10 August.

The annual Sustainable City Awards recognise and celebrate positive actions taken by communities in urban areas to protect and enhance their local environments. 

They encompass initiatives as diverse as litter prevention, recycling, protection of the environment, preserving heritage, community action and leadership and environmental sustainability programs. 

Monash was awarded the following categories:

  • Environmental Sustainability Award - for the Eastern Innovation Business Centre Water Filtration project 
  • Celebration of Cultural Diversity - in recognition of a range of diverse cultural events held by Council, especially those in partnerships with the community group Party on Power. 

We also received a High Commendation for the Valley Reserve Ted Mason Education Hub (which was created in partnership with the Friends of Valley Reserve Group). 

Council was also a finalist for:

  • Litter Prevention Council Award - for the Monash Young Person's Reference Group Single Use coffee cup removal campaign 
  • Sustainable Council of the Year. 

Council is proud to have been recognised with these awards. which show our commitment to building a sustainable city, now and into the future.
