During the caretaker period, from 12pm, 17 September until 6pm, 26 October 2024, councils across Victoria must comply with the Local Government Act 2020 to ensure that information and materials produced by councils must not influence voting at the election. The Minister for Local Government has approved changes to the ward boundaries ahead of the Local Government Election on Saturday 26 October 2024.
Monash will have 11 wards with a single Councillor representing each ward. These single wards will be named: Gardiners Creek, Blackburn, Gallaghers, Mayfield, Scotchmans Creek, Jells, University, Warrigal, Banksia, Wellington and Waverley Park.

Councillor Code of Conduct

In February 2021, Council adopted an updated Code of Conduct for Councillors. The Code:

  • sets out the standards of conduct expected of elected representatives
  • endeavours to foster good working relations between Councillors to enable Councillors to work constructively together in the best interests of the local community
  • specifically seeks to lift the standard of behaviour of Councillors during Council meetings, Council briefing meetings and any other Council related meetings which Councillors participate in from time to time
  • mandates Councillor conduct designed to build public confidence in the integrity of local government
