Museum of Australian Photography (MAPh) Committee of Management

This committee oversees the Museum of Australian Photography (MAPh).

MGA rebranded to MAPh on Sunday 19 March 2023.

Responsibilities

  • Provides expert business development advice to Council regarding operation of the Museum
  • Develops business plans for the operation of the Museum
  • Provides expertise to the MAPh Director regarding Museum program in the context of the business plan
  • Recommends on future management arrangements for the Museum linked to the business plan

Appointments and resignations

At the 28 May 2024 meetingCouncil:

  1. Approves the reappointment of Val Brown to the Museum of Australian Photography Committee of Management for a term of 3 years from 30 May 2024 – 31 May 2027
  2. Approves the reappointment of Kirsty Grant to the Museum of Australian Photography Committee of Management for a term of 3 years from 3 June 2024 – 2 June 2027
  3. Approves the reappointment of Richard Janko to the Museum of Australian Photography Committee of Management for a term of 3 years from 4 May 2024 – 3 May 2027

 

At the 31 October 2023 meeting, Council:

  1. Approves the appointment of Clive Scott to the Museum of Australian Photography Committee of Management for a term of 3 years from 1 November 2023 – 31 October 2026.
  2. Approves the appointment of Nick Heynsbergh to the Museum of Australian Photography Committee of Management for a term of 3 years from 1 November 2023 – 31 October 2026.
  3. Acknowledges retiring COM members Nick Fletcher and Kathy Hendy-Ekers for their contributions to MAPh

 

At the 25 July 2023 meeting, Council approved the reappointment of David Rosetzky to the Museum of Australian Photography Committee of Management for a term of 3 years from 17 July 2023 – 16 July 2026.

At the 25 October 2022 meeting, Council noted the 2021–2022 Annual Report presented by the Monash Gallery of Art Committee of Management. 

At the 30 August 2022 meeting, Council:

  1. Approved the reappointment of Matt Soulsby to the Monash Gallery of Art Committee of Management for a term of three years from 31 October 2022 – 31 October 2025
  2. Approved the reappointment of Kathy Hendy-Ekers to the Monash Gallery of Art Committee of Management for a term of one year from 27 October 2022 – 27 October 2023.

At its 26 July 2022 meeting, Council approved the reappointment of Nick Fletcher to the Monash Gallery of Art Committee of Management for a term of one year from 1 September 2022 – 31 August 2023.Council formally acknowledged and thanked Natasha Bowness for her significant contribution to the Monash Gallery of Art through her leadership as chair of the gallery’s committee of management.

At its 28 April 2020 meeting, Council resolved to appoint a Community Asset Committee, under the Local Government Act 2020, to manage the Monash Gallery of Art. This committee succeeds the Special Committee that was appointed under the Local Government Act 1989, for that purpose. The committee is chaired by Tony Peake

At its 25 May 2021 meeting, Council

  1. Approved the reappointment of Val Brown to the Monash Gallery of Art Committee of Management for a term of three years from 31 May 2021 – 30 May 2024
  2. Approved the reappointment of Kirsty Grant to the Monash Gallery of Art Committee of Management for a term of three years from 4 June 2021 – 3 June 2024
  3. Noted that Milton Harris’s tenure on the Monash Gallery of Art Committee of Management concluded on 31 May 2021
  4. Approved the appointment of Richard Janko to the Monash Gallery of Art Committee of Management for a term of three years from 5 May 2021 – 4 May 2024
  5. Approved the appointment of Kirsty Grant as Deputy Chair of the Monash Gallery of Art Committee of Management effective 1 June 2021

 

At its 29 October 2019 meeting Council resolved to:

Approve the tenure of Matt Soulsby to the Monash Gallery of Art Committee of Management for a term of  three years from 31 October 2019 to 31 October 2022; and approves Ms Natasha Bowness’ appointment as Chair of the Monash Gallery of Art Committee of Management for a further term from 31 October 2019 to 31 August 2022.

November 2018

At its 27 November 2018 meeting Council resolved to:

Approve the Monash Gallery of Art Committee of Management term extension of Mr Les Walkling for a further and final 12 months, effective 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020.

October 2018

At its 30 October 2018 meeting, Council resolved to:

  1. Approve the appointment of Ms Wai Tang to the Monash Gallery of Art Committee of Management for the period 1 December 2018 to 30 November 2021; and
  2. Approve the tenure extension of Dr Kathryn Hendy-Ekers for a further three years from 27 October 2018 to 27 October 2021.

September-November 2017

At its 26 September 2017 meeting, Council resolved to give non-councillor members of the Monash Gallery of Art Committee of Management an exemption under section 81(2A) of the Local Government Act 1989, from submitting a register of interests return.

At its 28 November 2017 meeting, Council appointed Dr Milton Harris as the Deputy Chair of the MGA Committee of Management.
