Charge Up Monash - EV charging bays
Monash is now the home to 4 public electric vehicle (EV) charging bays with up to 22kW units.
The EV bays have been placed in key activity centres, in front of:
- Mount Waverley Library and Community Centre (1 dual charger for 2 car bays, near the library but closer to the community centre)
- Monash Youth Services at Euneva Car Park
- Glen Waverley Library on Kingsway
The Charge Up Monash project looks to reduce the social and infrastructure barriers to electric vehicle uptake, support the Monash community in reducing transport emissions and encourage the transition to zero emissions transport.
The EV charging bays will provide residents with access to up to 1 hour free charging per day in Glen Waverley and up to 2 hours charging in Mount Waverley.
Suitable for Telsa and other EVs listed on Plug Share (www.plugshare.com.au) and you need the Exploren app (www.exploren.com.au) to charge.
Residents will be required to bring and use their own charging cable, however if you forget to bring one, you can borrow charge cables free of charge from the Glen Waverley and Mount Waverley libraries. You will need to be a Monash Libraries member to do so.
In Glen Waverley, the charging bays will continue to be available as 5 or 10 min vehicle drop off points, if vehicles are not being charged. An additional parking bay has been created in front of Euneva Car Park.
The EV stations will be powered from 100% renewable energy thanks to Council's participation in the Victorian Energy Collaboration (VECO).
The project received a $25,000 Destination Charging Victoria Grant from the Department of Land, Water and Planning.
