Australia Day

Monash City Council is proud to present the annual Australia Day Flag Raising Ceremony held on Thursday 26 January 2012 at Glen Waverley Civic Centre from 8.45am-11am. To celebrate this iconic day the Official Ceremony is followed by a free breakfast.

Australia Day in Monash is an opportunity for community groups, spread across the municipality to engage and develop their own event. In 2012 we have a record number of ten groups participating in this day with very diverse activities ranging from free theatre performances to open days and displays.

Chinese New Year Lantern Festival

Join us this year as we celebrate the exciting Year of The Dragon and the Chinese culture within the City of Monash.

Enjoy a journey of the senses as you; smell and taste fantastic flavours offered by the many food stalls and their diverse range of cuisine. View the vibrant colours, costumes and performances. Listen to the sizzle of food, live music performances and Chinese crackers and enjoy the 'hands on' creative activities offered within the 'Cultural Corner'.

Clayton Street Festival

Clayton Road (between the railway tracks and Centre Road), Clayton.

Major cultural street festival attracting over 20,000 people, featuring three stages of entertainment with cultural performances, workshops, roving performers, traders sites, interactive activities and community information sites. Now in its 9th Year, recent additions and improvements to the festival have included the Youth Zone and the Enviro Zone.

Flavours Of Oakleigh

Warrawee Park, Oakleigh.

Celebration of the culture and food of the Oakleigh and surrounding areas that attracts up to 10,000 people. Now in its 9th year the event features live music, the Flavours of Monash stage with cooking demonstrations from local cultural groups and many free rides and activities.

Mulgrave Fun Day

Wellington Reserve, Mulgrave.

Local neighbourhood event attracting up to 2,000 people, dedicated to young families with children under 12 years featuring performances, interactive activities and community sites and now going on to its 9th year.
