This exhibition, drawing on work from the DUFFY ARCHIVE in Britain, presents a survey of BRIAN DUFFY’s groundbreaking fashion photography in the 1960s and 70s, including pictures taken for Vogue, Elle and Queen.

DUFFY photographed many of the period’s great designers and its most iconic faces, including Jean Shrimpton, Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot.

The exhibition, showcasing the work of 10 photographers from the acclaimed Oculi photography collective, will be launched at MGA on 3pm Saturday, 4 February 2012 opened by Michael Coyne, Adjunct Professor of Photography, RMIT University and eminent Australian photojournalist.

Oculi photographers featured are Donna Bailey, James Brickwood, Tamara Dean, Jesse Marlow, Nick Moir, Jeremy Piper, Andrew Quilty, Dean Sewell, Steven Siewert and Tamara Voninski.

The Godden Gift: Works from The MGA Collection

Monash Gallery of Art holds one of Australia's most significant photographic collections. Recently the collection received an extraordinary gift from one of the country's most influential photographic curators, Christine Godden.

Ms Godden's donation includes 60 photographs produced primarily in the 1970s by Australia's leading photographers.

This exhibition of 16 selected works highlights a generation of photographers who went on to establish significant careers and change the course of Australian photography: Max Dupain, Gerrit Fokkema, Fiona Hall, Graham McCarter, David Moore, Wes Stacey, John Rhodes, and others.

Hughesdale Art Group

Hughesdale Art Group is a small community based group of friends who share the same passion – ART!

Members meet every Friday from 10.00am to 3.00pm for informal painting sessions at the Hughesdale Community Centre, cnr. Poath and Kangaroo Roads, Hughesdale. If you are looking for something a little more structured, artist Ivan Dinsdale tutors painters in their preferred medium, at the Hughesdale Community Centre, also each Friday from 10.00am to 12.00pm.

During the year, Hughesdale Art Group holds a number of special events, available to members and the wider public. Another exciting project this year was the beginning of our very own website, which can be found at: http://mc2.vicnet.net.au/home/hagroup/web/index.html
