Monash City Council has officially launched its 'Active Monash' brand, aimed at encouraging everyone to get out and get active.

Whether it is a swim at one of our three award-winning leisure centres, a walk through our bushland reserves or a round of golf at one of our two public golf courses, there are plenty of opportunities for residents to participate in all that our City has to offer.

'Active Monash' will now be the integrated branding tool for the Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre (MARC), Oakleigh Recreation Centre (ORC), Clayton Aquatics and Health Club (CAHC), Oakleigh and Glen Waverley golf courses, active reserves and parks, running and cycling paths, as well a range of Council run activities.

Local sporting clubs will also be included under the branding and Council will encourage clubs to promote the active message, as well as encouraging people to take part in the Positive Ageing and Lifestyles (PALS) programs, taking a class at a Neighbourhood House, joining a social club (such as bridge, backgammon, cooking groups etc.) and youth activities run by Monash Youth and Family Services.

Monash Mayor Stefanie Perri said branding recreational activities under the one banner will help the community instantly identify healthy and active initiatives run by the City of Monash.

"It's not just our award-winning aquatic and leisure centres that people can experience, but the walks through our parks, bushlands and reserves, or one of the many sports and social activities. There are so many great ways for people of all ages to experience an active lifestyle," Cr Perri said.

"More and more residents are interested in making healthy lifestyle choices and we want to encourage this because the health and wellbeing of our community is important to Council. That's why we want to make sure everyone knows about the range of events and activities that help local residents take positive steps towards a healthier life, from a leisurely stroll around your local park to a full-on gym circuit."

Cr Perri said the 'Active Monash' brand would encourage people to get out and explore Monash's wonderful facilities, both natural and man-made.
