Waste Wise Council
Waste Wise is a practical, step-by-step program developed by Sustainability Victoria to minimise waste and maximise the efficient use of valuable resources.
To be part of the Waste Wise initiative, Council has developed a Waste Reduction Action Plan (WRAP) and Waste Assessment Report with the aim of reducing waste and increasing recycling at the City of Monash offices.
Monash Council has been a certified Waste Wise organisation since 2006. In 2012 we achieved Gold level certification in this program.
This Waste Wise certification demonstrates that the City of Monash is committed to sustainability by reducing overall waste generation, increasing recycling and reuse, and promoting these principles to the wider community.

ECO-Buy
The City of Monash has been a member of ECO-Buy since 2003 and is committed to achieving its stated targets to increase the purchasing of environmentally friendly products.
The ECO-Buy committee meets on a regular basis to assess the potential for green products to be purchased by Council.
Employees are encouraged to consider purchasing environmentally friendly products, which can be researched on the ECO-Buy website: www.ecobuy.org.au and through a link on the Monash Council intranet.
