Wasps
The most effective way to get rid of a wasp nest is to destroy the nest.
If you have European wasps nesting on your property, it is your responsibility to have them removed. To remove the nest you can contact a wasp company by looking under 'P' for Pest Controller in the Yellow Pages. Alternatively, if you feel confident you can treat the nest yourself.
For advice on treatment of European wasp nest go to European Wasp Information.

Rodents
Rats and mice are a common problem.
If you are having problems with rodents, then the following may assist:- On your own land: You can either treat the problem yourself, or engage the services of a professional pest control company. If treating it yourself, poison baits and traps can be purchased at supermarkets and hardware stores. Wax block baits are best for external areas where the bait is likely to get wet. Dry pellet baits are more suitable for indoors.
- On your neighbour's land: You can either talk to your neighbour yourself, or advise Council's Public Health Unit and a Public Health Officer will visit your neighbour to advise them of the problem.
